Two goals from Craig Tully helped Peterhead on their way to a convincing opening day victory.

The two sides meet again on Tuesday night in the CIS Cup and if Shire don't improve their defending another heavy defeat will be on the cards.

Tully opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a diving header following a pin-point cross from the right by Keith Gibson.

On the half hour another accurate cross, this time from David Hagen, saw Tully head powerfully through pack of defenders with Mark Perry on hand to usher the ball over the line.

Jamie Buchan made the points safe with a 20-yard shot low into the net after 54 minutes, before Hagen netted the fourth with a superb solo effort.

He cut into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful shot into the far corner.

The final nail in the visitor's coffin came in injury time.

Substitute Martin Johnston raced clear down the right wing before finishing in style with a curling shot well into the left corner from the edge of the penalty area.
