A highly-entertaining game saw Peterhead produce one of their best displays of the season to take them to their highest league position.

A six-goal thriller also saw a missed penalty and a goal-of-the-season contender.

The visitors went in front after just two minutes. Paul Lunan rose unchallenged to head in a Ricky Waddell free-kick, but Peterhead were level within a minute. Martin Wood crossed from the left for Chris Hegarty to head home.

In the ninth miute the Blue Toon were awarded a penalty for a trip on Bobby Linn, who took the spot-kick himself but shot wide.

After 23 minutes Linn had a chance to make amends, and this time sent his penalty kick high into the centre of the goal.

Peterhead extended their lead three minutes before half-time. This time it was Chris Hegarty who set up Martin Wood to score with a glancing header.

Forfar pulled a goal back four minutes after the restart, Eddie Forrest scoring with a close-range header following a Waddle kick.

Any chance of the visitors grabbing a point were shattered with a spectacular fourth goal from Peterhead 15minutes from the end. Jamie Buchan scored with a rocket of a shot high into the net from 30 yards to round off a great performance from the home side.
