Two goals in five second half minutes saw Peterhead grab a crucial win that moves them above Partick Thistle and into third place.

Morton dominated the game for long spells and will feel a strong sense of injustice at not even taking a point from the game.

The visitors completely dominated the first half, and Derek Lilley should have scored at the back post after 23 minutes but Peterhead keeper Paul Mathers saved at the expense of a corner.

The opening goal was a fine shot from defender Alex Walker, who was allowed to advance to the edge of the penalty area before unleashing a powerful shot into the top corner.

Moments later Scott McLaughlin saw a fierce shot acrobatically tipped over by Mathers for a corner.

Lilley had another chance to score at the start of the second half, but he shot over the cross bar from the edge of the penalty area.

Peterhead equalised in the 61st minute with a superb strike. A corner was only pushed clear by keeper David McGurn then headed out to Graeme Sharp, who took the ball first time to volley high into the net.

Five minutes later, unbelievably Peterhead took the lead. Substitute Martin Bavidge saw his first shot blocked by McGurn, but the ball broke back to him and he sent the rebound low into the net.
