Peterhead kept their 100 per cent record intact with a third consecutive victory, running out 2-1 winners against Elgin City.

Two first-half goals gave them the cushion they needed for the second as City created enough chances to earn a draw.

Peterhead went in front after 23 minutes. Martin Bavidge drove a 20-yard free-kick low and hard against the Elgin defensive wall and the ball deflected into the corner of the net.

In the 37th minute Bavidge was involved in Peterhead's second goal. He raced clear down the left and saw his long shot hit the post. The ball rebounded to Scott Michie, who scored his fourth goal in three games from eight yards out.

Elgin's main threat came from former Peterhead winger Andrew Roddie. It was his 55th minute corner that he picked out defender Hugh Dickson, who rose unchallenged to head in from close range.

Both sides had chances to add to their tally in the second half with the Elgin keeper Kieron Renton twice coming to his side's rescue.

Keith Gibson also had a shot well saved, while former Elgin defender Craig Tully saw a header cleared off the goal line.
