Wood works wonders for Montrose

Montrose stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Peterhead at Links Park.

The home side took the lead inside the opening five minutes after the ball broke to Garry Wood in the penalty area and the striker slotted the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.

Montrose dominated possession in the first half and Wood turned provider after quarter of an hour, teeing up Terry Masson to double the lead with a right-footed shot that beat Graeme Smith from 12 yards out.

Martin Bavidge came close a couple of times for the visitors as the first half wore on, and Ryan Strachan hit the post with a long-range effort midway through the second half.

However, Sandy Wood was rarely called into action in goal and Montrose comfortably held on to seal all three points.
