McCann may feature after recovery

Peterhead full-back Ryan McCann has returned to training after an ankle knock and will feature against bottom-of-the-table East Stirling if there is no adverse reaction.

Callum MacDonald and Davie Ross remain out long term with knee injuries as the Blue Toon look to make it four successive wins and edge even closer to a play-off place.

Manager Jim McInally said: "We have got back into things through sheer hard work. Now that we are sitting fourth every game is a big game as teams will want to take our place.

"The Shire always make it difficult for us so we need to put in the same workrate that brought us back into things."

East Stirling, who have lost their last five games, have David Greenhill available following a ban.

But captain Kevin Turner is now suspended and will miss out for the Third Division's bottom club.

Six other players are also absent. Knee injuries have put paid to the chances of Rhys Devlin and Nathan Shepherd, while ankle problems account for Paul Quinn, Philipp Zufle and Jamie Benton. Michael Herd misses out with a groin problem.

Head coach John Coughlin said: "We are a bit stretched numbers wise and it is a few weeks since we had a positive result but I cannot fault the players for their efforts in the last couple of games.

"We are not getting any breaks at the moment on and off the pitch but I am sure that will turn again."
