Peterhead V Berwick at Balmoor Stadium - Match Preview

Smith sits out Berwick visit

Peterhead defender Ross Smith will miss out against Berwick.

Smith is suspended after he was sent off during the goalless draw against Annan in midweek.

However, Scott McLaughlin and Rory McAllister return from bans and Bryan Gilfillan has been added to the squad after arriving from Clyde.

Ryan Strachan is out with an ankle injury and knee problems keep Callum Macdonald and Davie Ross on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, former Scotland striker Robbie Winters has had his contract with the Blue Toon cancelled by mutual consent.

Balmoor boss Jim McInally said: "We have not won in our last four games so we are looking to put that right.

"We will need to play well as Berwick have one of the best midfield combinations in this division. They can keep the ball off you for fun so we have to work hard."

Goalkeeper Marc McCallum will make his first start for Berwick against one of his former clubs.

McCallum has joined Rangers on loan from Dundee United and spent the first few months of the season with Peterhead.

The Borderers will also include new striker Scott Dalziel, who has joined from Brechin City, and defender Dougie Bryson returns after a one-game ban.

Only long-term injury absentees Dene Droudge (knee) and Marc Lancaster (back) will not be making the long trip north.

Shielfield manager Ian Little said: "Our aim this season was to get into the play-offs and a win at Peterhead would certainly help us achieve that.

"We have not played for three weeks due to the weather and they played Annan on Tuesday night so we have to ensure that we are not caught cold at the start of the game."
